Stephen Schaeffer Organ Recital

Stephen Schaeffer, Binkley’s Interim Minister of Music since March, will present an organ recital on the Pearl Francis Seymour Memorial Organ. Binkley family and friends are cordially invited to this program of organ music from several centuries, featuring music by J. S. Bach, Maurice Duruflé, William Boyce, and Louis Vierne.

Highlights of the hour-long recital will be Bach’s monumental Passacaglia in C Minor and Louis Vierne’s Westminster Carillon.

Dr. Schaeffer has performed over 145 organ recitals in his career in venues in the eastern United States, England and Europe. In 2020 he retired to North Carolina where he grew up, after a seventeen-year tenure as a music professor at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina and more recently a 25-year span as Director of Music and Organist at the Cathedral Church of the Advent (Episcopal) in Birmingham, Alabama. He continues to engage as a free-lance musician and as a representative of the Reuter Organ Company of Lawrence, Kansas.
