Tending the Soil of the Spirit in Lent
Those of us who grew up in the Catholic or Lutheran or Episcopal Church may think of the season of Lent (those 6 weeks that lead up to Holy Week and Easter) as a penitential time, a period for noticing our missteps, or some hard-heartedness or hard-headedness that we lament in ourselves.
Yes, it’s true that Lent is a time for taking account, making a reckoning of our state of inner health. But it’s a time also to tend the soil. We are, as Ash Wednesday reminds us, earthy – humans. And so, given that spiritual truth, what can we do with the soil that we are?
This class offers us a variety of practices to work in the soil of the spirit – a different practice for each of the six weeks. Stephanie Ford and others will be facilitating this class. We hope you’ll join us for several, or all
of them!
Offered in person only in the Library
