Do you have a crèche at home that brings you joy during Christmas? Would you like to share it with your friends at Binkley?
The Fine Arts Committee plans a one-day crèche display this year as part of the church’s Advent celebrations. Binkley’s members, families, and friends may bring their crèches to be placed in the Narthex on December 18, the Sunday before Christmas.
Tables will be set up before the beginning of the Sunday School hour and will be watched over by committee members throughout the morning.
Viewers may take their crèches home after the 11 AM Worship Service.
Crèche is the French word for “manger.” Technically, a crèche is a figure of the baby Jesus in a manger. In many countries, crèches often include adult figures, such as Mary, Joseph, shepherds, wisemen, and angels, in a stable. These groups of figures also are called “manger scenes.”
